Education

University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP) Bachelors of Science - Aerospace Engineering Robert H. Smith School of Business (UMCP) Masters of Business Administration - Finance with a concentration in securities valuation and portfolio management (1997) School of Public Policy (UMCP) Masters of Public Policy - Public Sector Financial Management (1997)

Experience

Volunteer Math Tutor for 7 years for non-profit helping elementary students who needed additional help. As dual-major graduate student, I tutored undergrads in math and physics. After graduation, I worked briefly at Institutional Shareholder Services and, subsequently, as a financial and management consultant in the utilities sector. When I started my own consulting firm, I started tutoring undergrad and business students in accounting, finance, statistics, economics, marketing, strategy, econometrics and excel modeling. I keep tutoring because I started learning things that I didn't necessarily learn on the job, but enhanced my skills. For example, helping a MBA student from John Hopkins, I learned how to conduct Monte Carlo Analysis, which I later used on a triple bottom line business case analysis. I am working on my CFA and still have to take the level III exam next June. The two most difficult topics that I had to teach myself, as a tutor, were Markov Chains (math) and structural equation modeling, a type of statistical analysis (statistics) to generate correlations between qualitative variable through surveying.

Hobbies

I am a big NFL fan (go Steelers!). I play tennis - a lot more than I watch - and, after I started my business, to keep busy and engaged (you work fewer hours in the beginning as an independent consultant than when working for a firm), I also started acting. After many trips to mostly New York on my slow days, I eventually became a member of the Screen Actors Guild (now SAG-AFTRA).
